As with any rubber/silicone hose below the waterline, the PSS bellows must be checked regularly for wear, aging, or chemical deterioration.

PSS recommends replacing the bellows every 6 years. During the bellows replacement process, we also recommend replacing the O-rings, set screws, and hose clamps. All necessary spare parts are included in the PSS Maintenance Kit.

What is included in the maintenance kit?

a.) Bellows may need to be inspected more frequently in an environment where unsealed batteries emit sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid vapor will accelerate rubber deterioration, as will an ozonator.

b.) Use the locking screws only once. There are two locking screws in each of the two holes in the stainless steel rotor. One locking screw secures the rotor to the shaft, and the second secures the first locking screw. The locking screws are manufactured with a pointed collar at the base. This collar presses into the shaft, thus ensuring a secure hold.
