The new Biocidal Products Implementation Regulation (ChemBiozidDV) will come into effect on January 1, 2025. This will introduce new regulations and requirements for both us as retailers and you as customers regarding the sale and purchase of products containing biocides.
In this article, we would like to provide you with comprehensive information about the most important changes and innovations that affect the purchase of products containing biocides.

The handover interview - this is what you have to expect
Before the purchase can be successfully completed, a delivery interview must take place. To conduct this interview, we will ask for your telephone number when ordering a product containing biocides.
The required handover consultation, as described above, will take place by phone or video call, as required by the new Biocidal Products Regulation. We will provide you with comprehensive information and tips on correct use, disposal , and more.
The most important information of the new regulation at a glance
§ 10 Prohibition of self-service
The new regulation prohibits self-service. Biocidal products are therefore stored in locked containers and are therefore no longer freely accessible.
§ 11 Delivery only by trained and competent personnel
The distribution and advice on biocidal products may and will only be carried out by knowledgeable and trained personnel.
Section 11 (2) No. 1 - Requirements for the transferring person
The expert sales staff will check your personal requirements for purchasing these products in accordance with Section 11 Paragraph (2) No. 1 of the ChemBiozidDV to ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
§ 11 Paragraph 2 No. 2 - Submission discussion
Our sales staff is obliged to inform you about a few points during a handover meeting:
- Pest prevention measures and risk-reduced alternatives
- Safe and correct use of the biocidal product in accordance with the instructions
- Potential risks of the application and strategies to minimize them
- Essential safety precautions for use
- Proper storage and environmentally friendly disposal of the product
§ 12 Requirements for delivery in online and mail order businesses
The aforementioned regulations also apply to online sales. For online orders, the delivery interview will be conducted by telephone or video link.
§ 13 Expertise for the delivery
The sale of products containing biocides may only be carried out by qualified personnel. Our staff are appropriately trained and have passed the examination in accordance with Section 11 of the Chemicals Prohibition Ordinance.

You can continue to purchase biocide-containing products, such as antifouling, from us after January 1, 2025. However, this will involve additional time. We will nevertheless strive to make the process as convenient as possible for our customers. You can still purchase the products through our online shop. Please leave us a telephone number where we can reach you for the delivery meeting. Once the delivery meeting has been successfully completed, please countersign the confirmation, and the order can be finally accepted and processed.
