Methanol is an excellent energy source with the following unique advantages:

Max Power's fuel cells produce electricity from liquid methanol, an alcohol with a high energy density. Unlike hydrogen, where the energy storage tank must be subjected to a certain pressure, methanol is filled into easy-to-handle plastic canisters. These bear the TÜV mark for "tested safety." A 4.3-kilogram M5 fuel cartridge delivers over 300 ampere-hours of electricity. A comparable battery, on the other hand, weighs over 100 kilograms. Methanol is biodegradable and, unlike diesel, a completely environmentally friendly fuel. This means it can be sailed safely even in nature reserves. The methanol is supplied in specially designed 5-liter safety containers that are easy and safe to handle.
