The NMEA to USB adapter is suitable for PCs, Macs, and Linux systems. It converts data from the NMEA 0183 format used in marine electronics to the USB format, making it readable by almost all modern computers.

The adapter is bidirectional, allowing data to be both sent and received. It supports data at 4,800 baud and the higher rate of 38,400 baud used by many AIS systems. LEDs illuminate when data is being received and sent, which can be very useful in the event of interference. All electronics are housed in the connector. The device creates a virtual COM port on your PC, allowing navigation and chart programs to read the NMEA data. If necessary, multiple adapters can be connected, each with its own COM port assigned.

As a bonus, AIS users also receive our SmarterTrack Lite software program for displaying AIS data.

SmarterTrack is delivered as a digital download and includes a license for up to two simultaneous PCs. A license key will be sent to you via email with a download link. The license can also be transferred to other PCs via an uninstall process. SmarterTrack can be used on any PC running Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10. A fully NMEA 2000-compliant version is also available with a USB-to-NMEA 2000 interface.
