The NASA CLIPPER 147 with a rod antenna receives and decodes weather reports from the German Weather Service (DWD) on the frequency 147.3 kHz. The DWD broadcasts forecasts for the next 24 hours, 2-day forecasts, and 5-day forecasts on this frequency. These weather reports include not only the forecasts but also comprehensive weather information, and station reports are also broadcast at certain times. The transmission range on the frequency 147.3 kHz is approximately 800–1000 km from the transmitter.
