Description
Description
NASA Easy Navtex with rod antenna NE20. Navtex is an international radio system that broadcasts a wide variety of messages in English on 518 kHz. These messages include navigation warnings, search and rescue messages, and weather reports, as well as storm and strong wind warnings. Many transmitters have already been built or are being built around the world. The range of Navtex transmitters varies from approximately 50 to 250 nautical miles from the respective transmitter. In addition to the English-language Navtex frequency of 518 kHz, transmitter stations are being built that will broadcast detailed reports in the respective national language on the frequency of 490 kHz. Great Britain and France are already broadcasting on 490 kHz, and more stations are expected to follow in the coming years.
