The Riptide SC RT40 from Minn Kota is a lightweight 9 kg electric outboard designed specifically for saltwater skippers. All locking and clamping screws are made of stainless steel, and a zinc anode on the propeller protects against electrolysis, which is particularly common in saltwater.

The Riptide SC (switch control) models are equipped with five forward and three reverse gears. They include a battery indicator, a telescopic tiller, and a robust, tiltable motor mount. To protect against corrosion from salty sea air, the switch electronics are encased in a special insulating compound.
