Pressure expansion tanks hold a reservoir of air. The air acts like a cushion, absorbing pump and pressure fluctuations and balancing pressure and flow. This makes the pressurized water system quieter. Pressure expansion tanks allow the pump to reach the shut-off pressure more smoothly and reduce duty cycles. For example, the pressure expansion tank prevents the typical pounding and rattling of the pressurized water pump when the faucet is only partially open. In the hot water sector, pressure fluctuations caused by heating cycles are balanced out. Ideal for boats and mobile homes.
