Motor maintenance is an indispensable aspect in terms of engine safety and longevityBoat engine maintenance is a very important aspect of ensuring engine safety and longevity. The elements can take a toll on your boat engine, but with proper care and maintenance, your boat engine should last for many years. A boat engine requires water for cooling. Fresh water is more forgiving than salt water in this regard. Keep in mind that an engine operating in salt water requires much more intensive care.

Since boat engines use a large amount of water for cooling, the cooling system needs to be checked at least once a year. In addition, it is also recommended to check the system before longer trips and to have important spare parts such as impellersand filters on board. Last but not least, small parts can often save the boat trip. Spare screws, nuts and sealing materials should be on board in a clearly arranged box. In addition, of course, the tool to be able to exchange the components.

Below are some maintenance on outboard motors that you can do to extend the life of your boat motor with our products:

  •  Change oil and filter. Changing the oil in an outboard motor not only extends the life of the motor, but also keeps you safe at sea by preventing a potential problem before it occurs. Engine manufacturers will give you instructions in their manuals.
  • Use corrosion protection additives and follow the correct cleaning procedures for boat fuel or ensure clean fuel storage and fuel supply.
  • Check the cooling system for leaks and replace parts if necessary.
  • Check the propeller shafts for bends or cracks and replace if necessary.
  • Replace the spark plugs if necessary.
  • Check fuel lines, filters and intake manifolds.
  • Proper lubrication is what matters. However, pay attention to the environment and do not use products that should not get into the water, at least on engine parts that come into contact with the water.
